gmc s10 sonoma keeps cutting out?

this is a women asking so please help my husbands truck keeps cutting out he has changed the fuel pump but it hasnt helped he said every 15 minutes it cuts out and he has to put gas in the carboretor to make it start again he said something about taking the catalitic convertor out i think, but im not sure if anyone has an clues please help thank you, and yes its a junk truck but he needs it for work

could be fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, or any number of sensors. if it is throwing a check engine light, see if you can rent a scanner from autozone or something to find what code it is throwing
