Dirt Bike Help?

I'm going to be buying one in the near future (probably used, as I only want it for recreation and fun). What are some things to look for? Good makes and models?

get a honda 4 stroke. when you buy a used bike look for wear and tear. freshly repaired stuff and let the motor run for awhile. like 15 minutes. the valves might be out of adjustment and you'll hear it clack. but stuff like fresh silicon and stuff you gotta watch.. i would look for bikes on craigslist for the best deals

Depends on if you are looking at 2stroke or 4stroke. I am going to guess 4stroke and I have a WR-450F and love the hell out of it. The things that I look at was:easy to ride,low maint(doesn't break down),Light weight,low center of gravity,Fuel capacity,Name brand(Yamaha,Honda,Kawi,Suzuki).Pay close att. to Tranny's there a few years that only have 4 speed trannys that are track bikes.Good luck.
