be the Tranny!? Basically what happened was yesterday my car jerked while i was at a drive thru waiting and i had assumed that i had knocked it out of gear, it then jerked again but this time it cut off, i turned it back on and everytime i hit the gas it would turn off so i kept doing this until i made it 2 a parking space, i walked across the street to autozone and a guy suggested that i get a fuel injection cleaner, i used this and was able to drive home but i noticed that my car wasnt changing gears properly and the check engine light came on. I drove it in 2nd gear to get it put on the diagnostic machine and the guy told me that all the error codes were pointing to my transmission, i attempted to leave and the car turned off when i put it in drive so i drove it in 2nd gear to the transmission shop, he said it was an internal problem and the tranny had to be rebuilt, quoted me ($1800-2300) this cant be, this car only has 87,000 miles and has never given me a single problem.

it sound to me that it has debre in the tranmision....causing the valves to stick..the shutting off would most likely the computer trying to prevent further damage to the drive train.....u might try flushing the transmision / changing filters / and fluid...but the damage has already been done

if the car is throwing a code, which one? Autozone can pull a code with their hand-held obd2 machine but they don't normally know what it means when they print it out. go to a place that can hook it up to a REAL machine and get a full diagnostic done. It will probably cost around $50 bucks.

I'm guessing that it is a vehicle speed sensor that is located on the transmission. That will throw a code and i am pretty sure that it will cost less than it does to put another transmission in the car.

Good luck. Merry Christmas
