I think the Volkswagen Scirocco is the best looking car that Volkswagen makes. I also think it’s the best car they won’t sell in the United States. Unfortunately, neither of those things looks to be changing anytime soon. Volkswagen has just announced that a new version of the Scirocco is going to be unveiled at Geneva and it is the best looking Scirocco yet.
There will be a new Scirocco soon, but to tide over fans, and keep buyers hitting showrooms, the current car is getting a facelift. The front and rear of the car have been revised, and there are fancy new LED lights on both ends as well. The interior features lots of new changes that are designed after equipment in the new GTI, and new seats feature Alcantara.
One of the really big changes for the new Scirocco is that every single available engine has seen its power increased. Some of the engines have seen gains as high as 20 horsepower. Even the all-powerful Scirocco R has seen its power boosted from 265 horsepower to 280. An AWD hatchback that looks this good, and has 280 horsepower makes me almost forget the new WRX exists.
As is the par for this German course, there are no plans to bring the car to the states. There is potential for that to change when Volkswagen releases the next-generation car, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
