If you own a VW Beetle with those fancy leather sport seats, keep your eyes on the mailbox for a recall letter.
If the front passenger seat gets wet, the “occupant control module” (read: weight sensor) may malfunction and not properly detect a child seat. If this happens and there is a collision the airbag will go off, potentially causing serious harm to the child.
VW hasn’t provided a schedule for notification, but if you think you may have one of the 2,471 potentially affected cars, you can call VW directly at 1-800-822-8987.
