Volkswagen is planning to build a midsize SUV that is expected to be built in Tennessee, reports Detroit Free Press.
The company would make a formal decision to build the vehicle before the end of the year.
Marc Trahan, VW of America executive vice president for quality, told the Automotive Press Association in Detroit that its Chattanooga plant “is in the lead” to build it, according to the newspaper.
The new SUV is likely to be similar to the Crossblue concept vehicle the automaker unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.
