The Range Rover Sport is all-new for 2014 as its capabilities grow both on and off road, along with its styling and interior volume.
Styling is obviously the first noticeable difference on the Range Rover Sport. It’s curves and swoops pay respects to the Range Rover Evoque. We think the new styling will grow on us, but it’s feels a bit avant-garde at this point.
Under the resculpted hood lies either a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 or a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8. Both engines produce respectable numbers: 340 hp for the V-6 and a massive 510 hp for the V-8.
Power is routed through two optional transfer case systems; a single speed Torsen unit or a two-speed unit with locking and low range capabilities. Both transfer cases come standard with the latest version of Range Rover’s respected Terrain Response system.
The biggest news inside the new Range Rover – besides the beautifully crafted and refreshed instrument panel – is the addition of third row seating. Meant to be used on occasion, the two folding third row seats bring the total seating capacity to seven; although adults will find the accommodations rather tight.
Overall, the 2014 Range Rover Sport should prove better off road, on road and everywhere in between. The styling is sure to turn heads, and perhaps that’s the point. Pricing starts at $63,495 and tops out north of $93,295.
