Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., today dedicated a new $3.6 million Technical Training Center at their regional office complex at 4550 Creek Road. The center will provide state-of-the-art technical training to nearly 1,200 Toyota and Lexus
service technicians annually.
“Toyota is committed to providing the best technical training to the 118 dealerships it serves in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee,” said George Christoff, vice president and general manager of the Cincinnati Region. “We are pleased to have made this multi-million dollar investment here, which will greatly enhance the expertise of our service technicians.”
The new Technical Training Center is a 17,300 square-foot facility with
a lecture hall; three classrooms and 12 service bays. Along with a manager,
the facility will be staffed by three service training instructors and six
field technical specialists.
In 2006 at its previous facility, Toyota conducted 110 classes, training 800 technicians. This year, the company expects to teach 125 classes and train 1,100 technicians. Classes are aimed at progressing a technician in the dealership's service department to achieve a classification of either Expert, Certified or Master technician.
Several “green” features were used in the design and construction of
the new facility. These included recycling of asphalt and other materials
from the old facility and the use of energy-reducing materials and
fixtures.
The Technical Training Center will also be used one week per month to
train nearly 100 Lexus technicians annually.
