If you ever manage to lay eyes on an actual Lamborghini Centenario count yourself lucky. Not many will ever have the chance.
This limited-run supercar is being built in celebration of the 100th birthday of Lamborghini founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, and as you probably guessed, all 20 coupes and 20 roadsters were sold before the Geneva Motor Show announcement was even made. Each one at a starting price of over two million dollars after tax.
The lucky few owners will be treated to a multi-scooped and vented body built entirely of carbon fiber, permanent four-wheel drive and a brand new rear-wheel steering system that Lamborghini claims gives a better turning radius at low speeds and greater stability at speed.
Inside this rocket ship you’ll find even more carbon fiber, yards of Alcantara, and a 10.1 inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Internet browser and navigation. Just in case you get lost on the way to the track.
It also screams to an anstronimcal 8600 rpm redline. Jump on the loud pedal and the Centenario will send your eyeballs to the back of your skull as it launches to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds. Throw out the anchor after that 2.8 seconds and the brakes will pin you to the seatbelt, hauling you down to a stop in less than 100 feet. If you’ve chosen the optional interior cameras you can even watch you and your passenger’s reactions to the experience once you’re done burning the tires off of your car.
Lamborghini’s strategy in recent years has been to produce limited cars for the super collector while exploring the outer limits of design and technology. The Centenario takes this strategy to another level, giving the world a rarity many would consider themselves lucky to see in all its glossy carbon fiber glory.
