The Toyota Prius is easily the best-selling gas-electric hybrid in America and this fall, Toyota plans to expand the model line with the 2012 V. A lot of Prius owners have families and even though the sloping hatch offers a good amount of space and cargo loading, there is just no way around not being a full-blown hatchback wagon. The Prius V is going to change that by offering buyers the cargo capacity and loading of a station wagon while still achieving nearly 50 mpg.
“The Prius v brings leading-edge hybrid technology to customers who need more room and provides more cargo space than 80 percent of all small SUVs,” said Toyota Division Group Vice President and General Manager Bob Carter. With a max cargo space of 34.3 cubic feet, the rear hatch offers space and loading ability that out does all other dedicated hybrids on the market.
Expect to see the Prius V in Toyota dealerships this fall as 2012 models.
