Not too long ago, there was some chatter among the auto industry the Toyota Prius would become just a Prius. Unlike the Ram, which is no longer a “Dodge”, the Prius will not branch off as its own brand name. Instead, Toyota will simply add an extra three model variants with the name Prius by next year. Ed Larocque, who heads Toyota’s advanced technology vehicles as national marketing manager for, told Car and Driver that the Prius name is much too crucial to the Toyota brand.
History has shown that the Prius is more times than not Toyota’s third best seller behind the Camry and Corolla. Toyota will use this to attempt to launch three new hybrids: the Prius V, a plug-in and the much more compact Prius C.
