Kelly Blue Book (KBB), a long-time leader in automotive reviews and pricing, has given the 2012 Fiat 500 another accolade to put under its belt. Just released is KBB.com’s top 10 list for best “back-to-school” cars and on placed among the top five is Fiat’s first American re-introduction in decades. KBB editors make their best for young buyers list based on a new vehicle’s safety, affordability, versatility, reliability, cost-of-ownership and fuel efficiency. They also take into consideration a car’s appeal to a youthful buyer by looking at its fun-to-drive factor and its looks.
According to the editors of kbb.com, the Fiat 500 is, “smart and surprisingly comfortable little commuter car as well as being affordable, adorable and easy on the gas.” What is most surprising about the 500 is despite its exclusive design and engineering, it is still competitively price in its segment. Starting MSRP is just $15,995 which is right on par with other subcompacts. For these reasons, the 2012 Fiat 500 placed number four on the list of best new cars for students. This placement comes not too long after kbb named the 500 the number one coolest new car for under $18,000.
“The new Fiat 500 is affordable transportation that is safe, practical and with a 38 mpg highway rating, easy on the wallet for high school and college students on a budget. It also has great looks and performance,” said Laura Soave, Head of the FIAT Brand for North America.
