When the 2013 Ford Fusion hits the markets, it will come with a wealth of drivetrain options to pick from. As with any all-new vehicle, the EPA fuel mileage ratings for each one are absolutely critical for sales and overall bragging rights. With the sedan’s debut not too far away, the official numbers are in and the Fusion is looking to be rather competitive in a highly crowded market.

With three engines which can either drive the front or all four wheels, the EPA released six mpg ratings for the Ford. According to Car and Driver Magazine, the most fuel-efficient variant will be the Fusion Hybrid which should average 47 mpg on the highway and in the city. The next best will be the front drive 1.6 liter EcoBoost six speed manual which will carry a 25 mpg city and 37 mpg highway rating. When equipped with a six speed automatic, the same engine should average a 23/36 mpg split. In order to get 237 horsepower from a 2.0 liter EcoBoost four cylinder, the Fusion will have to make do with an automatic and 22/33 mpg. That same car with all wheel drive should average 22/31 mpg. The base model with a 2.5 liter naturally aspirated four cylinder and automatic is looking to achieve 22 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway
