It is official: Chevrolet dealers in all 50 states are now taking orders for the 2012 Volt. On the options list, buyers will also find two new interior trims and exterior colors making for a total of seven options packages for the 2012 model. That is four more than the very limited 2011 Volt which was only available in seven states. Pricing for the 2012 model will start at $39,995 but a federal tax credit is available that can knock the price down to $32,495. A fully loaded 2012 Volt with navigation and back up camera will run $46,265.

“We are giving consumers greater choice of content as the Volt becomes available nationwide by the end of this year,” said Cristi Landy, Volt marketing director. The gas/electric Volt is able to run fully electric and zero emissions for 35 miles. After that, the small displacement gas powered four cylinder takes over allowing for an additional 344 miles of driving. Chevrolet expects to build 45,000 Volts for the 2012 model year.
