A select number of Buick Regal sedans are being recalled due to an issue with their parking lights. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately 3,633 cars are being investigating by General Motors. All Buicks are 2012 model years which were manufactured between February 22, 2011 and February 22, 2012. The reasoning for the problem is because the cars have failed to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108: “Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment.” When either the parking lamps or head lights are turned on, a software error can cause a refusal by the parking lamps to activate.
The recall started on March 12 and notifications to owners should be issued out currently. In order to remedy the problem, certified GM and Buick dealers will reprogram the body control module of the affected Regals. When this takes place, it will happen at no extra cost to drivers.
