Audi holds its biggest market in Europe and therefore appears to be one of those manufactures that caters to its home field. For years, the German company has offered special models that never made it to American soil. The upcoming A6 Hybrid was supposed to be one of those models, but that could change. According to Car and Driver magazine, the latest Audi Hybrid could very well be sold to U.S. buyers.
Powered by a new, 2.0 liter turbocharged gasoline four cylinder and matched to an electric motor and Audi’s newest eight speed transmission, the U.S. version should be very similar to the European model. The euro A6 Hybrid produces a total of 245 horsepower and 354 lb-ft and is only available as a sedan with front wheel drive. Audi sources also revealed that the 2012 model year should see a U.S.-spec A6 Hybrid along with the already confirmed A6 TDI diesel. Pricing will be nearly the same for both models: around $55,000.
