In an apparent attempt to out-class everything under the sun, Audi has released the updated 2014 RS7. This 5-door Sportback is motivated by Audi’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 kicking out 560 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, propelling the all-wheel-drive sedan from 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds. Top speed is quite impressive, too, at 189 mph – available only with the Dynamic Package Plus.

Even with all that power on tap, the RS7 still manages to achieve an average of 24 mpg. Systems like cylinder on demand, start-stop technology, and an 8-speed transmission aid in reaching that number. Stopping is made easy by either the 15.3-inch vented disk brakes or the optional 16.5-inch carbon ceramic brakes. Audi’s adaptive air suspension appears as well.

The RS7 is set apart from the standard S7 by distinctive grille and bumpers, along with a power-extending spoiler on the tail, and elliptical exhaust pipe tips. Inside, the RS7 continues the sporty theme with special black-faced gauges, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and an RS7-specific computer menu that displays a shift light and boost gauge.

If the RS7’s goal was to embody a powerful German sedan that excels at going fast, it looks like the Audi engineers hit their target.
