It appears that Mercedes-Benz is looking to appeal to the fuel mileage junky by offering a new for 2012 turbo four-cylinder in the C-Class sedan and coupe. Under the hood of the C250 will be a new direct-injected turbocharged 1.8 liter inline four that will make a respectable 201 horsepower and substantial 229 lb-ft of torque. Fitted with new 17 inch wheels and newly revised 7-speed automatic transmission designed for fuel efficiency, the new C250 should see 30+ mpg on the highway. Weight has been decreased as well with the addition of an aluminum hood.
At one point in recent history, it would seem as if Mercedes-Benz simply didn’t care about fuel mileage as it was dropping monster 6.2 liter V8s into every car they had. But recent releases from the company would suggest that these days the manufacture known for German hot-rods have finally given into high gas mileage trends. Not a bad thing in the least as we can safely assume the new C250 will still have that autobahn luster that makes Mercedes-Benz cars so special.
