Let me take you back for a moment, it’s a dark stormy night in the year 1752, Benjamin Franklin is standing on the spire of Christ Church in Philadelphia, as the rest is written in history the power of harnessing electricity was found with a key and a kite. It takes special minds and dedication to pave the path to the future.
Just like Benjamin Franklin helped bring electricity to the world, Elon Musk has been working for well over a decade at bringing affordable electric cars to the masses. It started with the Tesla Roadster in 2006, and ever since, Elon and the engineers at Tesla Motors have been hard at work building the future.
Tonight Elon’s dream is one step further to being realized with the release of the Tesla Model 3. The biggest factor behind the release is the pricing, an all-electric luxury sedan with a base price of 35,000 dollars. We’ve been promised by Elon himself that a better sedan won’t be available for the price, even with no options. Seating and passenger comfort has been the biggest focus along with storage, 5 adults comfortably fit in the car, along with storage in both the front and rear compartments. It comes in both rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. We expect the car to have a range above 215 miles which is perfect for your around town needs, and thanks to the installation of “Superchargers” all over the country, you’ll be able to take it on road trips with ease.
Of course what is a Tesla without its gadgets, autopilot comes standard, a massive 15 inch touchscreen controls all of the essentials in the car, navigation, HVAC, and a single piece of glass from the front windshield to the back. We expect the rest of the options and gadgets to be released in the coming months.
If you’d like to get your hands on one you’re in for a bit of a wait. Deliveries aren’t expected until late 2017. However with a modest down payment of $1000 you can get your preorder set in motion. I like the idea of the car so much that I’m strongly debating placing an order myself. Keep things locked on AutoTalk.com
