Subaru WRX STI Earns Four of Top Five Positions at ESPN X Games

Subaru WRX STI's took the top four of five positions at the recent ESPN X Games 13 Rally Car Racing Super Special event held at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

Tanner Foust of Steamboat Springs, Col. and co-driver Chrissie Beavis of San Diego won the race in their SYMS/Rock Star Rally Team Subaru WRX STI, but it was a close battle heading into the final stage against Ken Block and co-driver Alessandro Gelsomino in their Team Subaru USA WRX STI. Foust surged to the lead in the final turn and crossed the finish line .68 seconds ahead of Block.

“Block was leading us going out, and on the way back he must have caught bad breaks because he got really close and I was thinking 'Oh my gosh, there's no dust at the finish line, we might have a chance at this',” Foust said afterwards.

Travis Pastrana of Annapolis and co-driver Christian Edstrom of New York City driving a Team Subaru USA WRX STI were the favored team going into the event. However, during a semi-final heat Pastrana overtook a corner, crossed into Foust's lane and was disqualified for that stage. He finished third overall.

NASCAR regular Boris Said with co-driver John Buffum in a Team Subaru USA WRX STI came in ninth.
