The Mercedes-Benz model line up is one of the largest in the industry. There are so many classes that sometimes it can be hard to keep up. That still doesn’t stop the Stuttgart stalwarts from producing some exceptionally quality vehicles and the newly released GL Grand Edition is rolling, armor-clad proof.
The GL class, Mercedes’ full-size luxury SUV, is a sophisticated blend of ML luxury and G-Wagon off road capability. For this year, they have upped the ante by releasing the very special Grand Edition trim level. Bearing exclusive equipment such as light-weight alloy 20″ wheels, a special interior featuring one-of-a kind trim, and special body moldings, the Grand Edition manages to add even more class to an already classy vehicle.
Drivetrain options for the Grand Edition are a variety of GL equipment. Two 3.5 liter BlueTEC diesel V6s as well as two gas V8s (340hp 4.6 and 388hp 5.5) are options. All transmissions are the Mercedes-Benz 7-speed automatic. What’s even more special is the Grand Edition holds all of the off road equipment that makes the big Merc SUVs so capable. The 4MATIC all-wheel drive and AIRMATIC suspension are standard and the the GL actually features low-range. There really is no denying the off road prowess of the GL and the Grand Edition just makes driving in the muck a little more special.
