In the late 60’s Ford and Hertz combined forces for one of the best rental programs that have ever existed. A special edition GT350 was made and sent out to rental lots nationwide in the “Rent-A-Racer” program. The 1966 GT350H was a standard GT350 with a special color scheme, black paint and twin gold racing stripes stood the pony car out from the rest of its counterparts. Thankfully with the big focus over the last decade on going back to old designs, we’re not left without things like the Hertz program, Ford unveiled the GT-H at the New York Auto Show last week.
Donning the traditional black and gold striped body, the GT-H will grab attention wherever you travel. Ford has made sure to give lots of styling cues back to the original GT350H, a vented hood, faux rear fuel cap and trunk lid, and GT-H graphics in various places on the car.
Graphics aren’t the only change however; every GT-H will come equipped with the Ford Racing Handling Pack. This means that your rental won’t be the same as every other 21 year old with a GT mustang on the streets. You get specially tuned shocks and lowering springs to match, upgraded sway bars, specially tuned exhaust to give it a rumble you won’t forget, and staggered 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin rubber.
