Since April 6, there has been no Saab vehicle to roll of the factory line at the Trollhättan, Sweden plant. That is until now because for the first time since the shut-down, production has once again begun. For the first day of the restart, a planned output of 100 Saab vehicles has been put in place and production looks to increase even greater in the next few weeks.
Victor Muller, CEO and Chairman of Saab Automotive; Gunnar Brunius, Saab Automobile’s Vice President Purchasing & Manufacturing as well as Mr. Pang Qinghua, Chairman and CEO of Pang Da Automobile attended the re-opening. With the restart, Saab Automotive will focus on building and delivering the vehicles that have already been ordered by customers. The total number of outstanding orders since April 9 is over 6,500 vehicles. 1,300 of those orders were put in by Pang Da Automobile themselves.
As the first cars rolled off the line, a silver 9-5 Aero XWD and an orange 9-3 Convertible Independent Edition, Victor Muller said, “This is a great day for our company and it is great to see the plant running again. We have gone through a rough patch in recent weeks, but Saab is back in action again. I would like to express my deep gratitude to our fantastic suppliers who have worked so hard with us to make this happen, and to our loyal employees who have constantly stood by our side.”
