Renault has yet to launch another U.S. invasion, but in the meantime, it's highly amusing to watch how the French company is courting our cousins in the United Kingdom. On Tuesday, the automaker launched the entry-level Renault Twingo “Extreme,” which is most notable for its unusual list of options.
These include “Cross of St. George wing badges” or exterior decals for the equivalent of $30. The cross of St. George is a white flag with a red cross. The iconic symbol of the saint, who is a legendary dragon slayer and early Christian martyr, is said to be inspired by the tunics worn by Christian crusaders. Other decals for the Twingo Extreme are Union Jack door handle graphics for $90, or a choice of checkered-flag door graphics or white or black racing stripes, any of which cost $160.
The new Twingo Extreme competes with the Fiat 500 and is powered by a 1.2-liter engine. Standard items include 14-inch “Fidji” wheel trims, a rev counter and foglights
