Practice on Pikes Peak’s Top Section was on the agenda today for the world’s top drivers in the unlimited and 2wd classes. Rhys Millen and his Hyundai Powered PM580 set the pace for the unlimited class edging out Paul Dallenbach and his 1300hp by just over one second.
Five-time champion of the unlimited class at Pikes Peak Monster Tajima struggled today with clutch issues and only ran once. Right now it looks like Millen and Dallenbach are the ones to look for.
In the 2WD class again it was all eyes on the older Millen. Rod Millen set the pace as well.
The third and final day of practice will conclude tomorrow which leads into a “prep-day” Saturday. Sunday the race begins at 9:00a.m. but road closures are much earlier so check out: http://www.usacracing.com/ppihc/competitors/rws for more information.
So glad you guys are covering Pikes Peak this year! It’s going to be a good one!
Thanks. Glad to hear you are following. I will do my best to cover the 2wd, AWD, and unlimited classes as those are the most followed.
