Ram announced that it plans to offer a diesel engine in its light-duty pickup, reports Detroit Free Press.
The 2014 Ram 1500 will have an optional 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel produced by VM Motori.
In the 2014 Ram 1500, the diesel engine will generate 240 horsepower (HP) and 420 pound-feet of torque, comparable to a V8 gasoline engine.
The 2014 Ram 1500 will go on sale early next year.
Ram is a division of Chrysler.
