There is a certain stigma that high-end cars, especially sports cars, are dramatically prone to failures, problems and fires. Now sure, occasionally something will go wrong, and you will see a video of a Porsche or Ferrari doing their best impressions of a barbecue grill, but on the whole, these cars are far more reliable than you expect. Porsche in particular makes some of the best cars on the market, and they have the data to prove it. In the recent J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, Porsche snagged the top spot in three different segments.
This isn’t just some fluke either, this year marks the fourth time, in a row, that the 911 has scored top honors in its class. Other notable wins include the Boxster and Cayman which secured first and second in the scoring for their class, and the new Porsche Macan was also a top scoring machine. Not bad for a car in its first year of production. The Cayenne and Panamera both had great showings with number 3 rankings in their class.
If you put all those scores together, the result is that Porsche is the highest ranked brand in the country. Yes, read that again. The car brand with the best initial quality in the country is not Toyota, Lexus, or anything other Japanese make; it is the ultimate purveyor of the sports car, Porsche.
