When we drove the newest GT-R. the 2013 Black Edition, we noted how every year brings new updates to the supercar and Nissan is relentless in it’s improvements. Now we have word what the JDM model 2013 GT-R, which will hit the US market as a 2014 model, will bring to the table.
Lets start with the engine. It doesn’t have any more power, the huge bump last year to 545 is plenty, but the engine has been revised to provide better response and acceleration especially in the higher registers of the rev band. A new baffled oil-pan has been fitted to stabilize oil pressures during extreme driving, and customers can now spec Motul Competition Oil from the dealer.
The chassis sees some fairly major updates with a lowered center-of-gravity and new cam bolts of the front suspension. The torque from the drive shaft to the hub bearings has also been increased to improve track reliability. As a final modification, reinforcements were added behind the dash to increase rigidity and steering response.
The JDM car is available in three models, Pure, Black and Premium. Black edition extras remain relatively unchanged, but Pure and Premium cars see some interior additions. The Pure model has new colored stitching, and the stitching design is thicker. Premium cars have a new two-tone Amber Red and Black color scheme with semi-aniline leather available as an option.
