Certain models of the small crossover SUV, the Nissan Rogue, are being recalled. The issue revolves around the vehicle’s electric power steering assist system. If affected, the circuit board in charge of controlling the units may not have been installed in the proper position. The misplacement can cause unwanted stress on circuit board terminal solder, which does have the possibility of separating entirely from the board. If that occurs, than the electric power steering will stop working completely.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Nissan is recalling approximately 7,365 2011 model year Rogues. The vehicles potentially affected were manufactured from August 17 through October 30, 2010. Nissan is beginning its notification process and will contact owners to inform them what they need to do in order to remedy the issue. If notified, a certified Nissan dealer will inspect and replace the electric power steering control unit at no extra cost to the Rogue owner.
