Nissan Americas announced that it will be putting a much greater emphasis on social communities, activism and the general public. With the recent appointment of Vicki Smith as the new senior manager of Nissan America’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), a goal of “enriching people’s lives” has been set. Nissan plans to do this by taking the responsibility of a good, corporate citizen that will supply support for initiatives that build trust with the public.
“Vicki brings the perfect blend of global corporate knowledge, communication skill and strong community relationships to her new role,” said David Reuter, vice president of Corporate Communications for Nissan Americas. Smith, who received her masters degree in business administration from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), will be responsible for overseeing programs such as Nissan Neighbors and the Nissan Foundation. Nissan Neighbors is a giving program that works with education, the environment and humanitarian aid. The Nissan Foundation supports educational programs that celebrate diversity.
“We’re very privileged to have Vicki join our Nissan Foundation team,” said Scott Becker, senior vice president of Administration and Finance for Nissan North America and president of the Nissan Foundation. “Vicki is already active in several community programs, and I expect her experience in these matters to bring a focus to our philanthropic efforts.”
