We’ve discussed the diesel-powered Nissan Titan XD here before; in fact named it our Truck of the Year. Now it’s time to turn the attention to the standard Titan. We got a sneak peak of this new version of the truck last week at the Chicago Auto Show, and while managing to retain the same cab, the XD and the standard Titan are 2 entirely separate animals and they share very few parts;ven the lug nuts are different. Coming in at 14 inches shorter overall, this truck will be a competitor to the top selling F150 and other half ton trucks.

Unfortunately the standard Titan won’t be offered with the badass Cummins power plant like the XD, but it still retains the respectable 5.6 liter direct injected V8 that puts out 401 lb.-ft. of torque and 390 hp. Combined with a 7-speed auto the Titan should be able to handle any of your truck needs. If the big burly V8 isn’t for you, we suggest you look at the V6 option that is coming soon. Could we see the twin-turbo engine that the Infiniti Q60 is getting to compete against the Ecoboost F-150? Probably not, but it sure is fun to think about. Be sure to check out our gallery for more pictures of the Titan and the Titan XD
