By the time January 2012 is complete, two all-new Nissan concept vehicles will be revealed to the public. Utility will be the name of the game as the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS)will serve as a main showcase of a full-blown, zero emissions van and the early beginnings of the next Pathfinder SUV. Also making an appearance will be the recently released NV line of vans doing what they do best: working. Equipped with some added Detroit “flair”, the Titan-based workhorse will be outfitted as a food truck and will serve as the main media hospitality center for the NAIAS’s two press days.
The two main stars and Nissan’s future both will feature the company’s dedication to its namesake and its fight to lower emissions. The fully electric van concept will be very close to production-ready and will showcase the next line of Nissan EV powertrain. The heavier duty system will have some serious work to do as Nissan hopes their next van will have what it takes to compete with the Ford Transit Electric. It will be available to both fleets and the public. Alongside the EV will be the world’s first official look at the next Pathfinder. Holding the longest running nameplate of any U.S.-spec Nissan, the Pathfinder has always been a strong contender on and off the road. The concept will be relatively close to the production version, which is slatted to hit dealership floors by the fall of 2012.
