With the recent release of the newly redesigned 2017 Nissan GT-R, it was only a matter of time before the NISMO department got to work on the new car. The last Nismo GT-R was the fastest road car Nissan ever produced, so the 2017 model has big shoes to fill.

When you compare the standard 2017 GT-R to the new NISMO, you’ll immediately notice several differences in the front bumper alone. The grille is wider, which allows more airflow to keep the high output VR38 cool under all conditions, and the front bumper has layers of carbon fiber added to make sure the bumper doesn’t deform at speed, giving the car a greater aerodynamic advantage. The new bumper paired with canards and a newly reinforced hood means that the car produces more downforce than any other GT-R produced.

What we were most excited about with the 2017 GT-R was the newly redesigned interior. The GT-R finally has an interior to match the performance and price tag, the NISMO edition is no exception, coming with leather Recaro seats unique to the car and covered in custom accents, you can be assured that you’re going to stay in your seat while flogging this beast down the roads of your choosing.

The biggest news about this car is the power output, the NISMO edition puts out 600 horsepower thanks to the addition of bigger turbo chargers that were pulled straight from the GT3 competition car. However given Nissan’s recent track record of downplaying power output, we expect the GT-R to have a bit more than 600 horsepower, but we won’t know until someone gets the chance to drop one on a dyno.

We don’t have pricing for the car yet, but don’t expect the MSRP to stray too far from the current Nismo’s $150k starting price. Keep it locked right here on autotalk.com for all of your updates as we learn more.
