Chrysler received a letter from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in which the agency ordered the company to answer questions about what it calls the slow pace of producing enough parts to complete a recall of 1.56 million older Jeep SUVs that are at risk for fuel tank fires, reports The Detroit News.
NHTSA states that it is concerned the automaker is not moving fast enough to build parts for its June 2013 recall.
In 2013, the agency requested Chrysler to recall 2.7 million 1992-98 Jeep Grand Cherokees and 2002-07 Jeep Libertys. Chrysler announced a fix. However, the company said it would not address all fire concerns.
