Volkswagen continues its drive offensive: In the context of the international Viennese of engine symposium (26. until 27 April) of Europe of largest car manufacturers a new TSI petrol engine (90 KW/122 HP) and that presents world-wide first filter course double clutch transmissions (DSG) for the compact and middle class. Both aggregates will come in the second yearly half on the market.

TSI stands for maximum Kraft with minimum consumption. By the combination of Direkteinspritzung and loading with reduced capacity. The well-known TSI engines with 103 KW and 125 KW are several times price-crowned, as they are used among other things in the gulf and Touran. With new 90 KW TSI 2007 now the third performance level of the TSI Motorenfamilie follows.

Opposite past 1,6 FSI the torque of the 1,4-Liter-Turbomotors rose around nearly 30 per cent to now 200 Newtonmeters (with 1.500 rpm). In the lower speed range mark the TSI even torque paste run gene of up to 66 per cent. Despite the better achievement and torque characteristic consumption could be lowered around approximately six per cent. Technically the new TSI is based on the compressor counterparts with 103 and 125 KW. Contrary to the doubly loaded engines falls back „small ” 90 KW TSI in things the loading however exclusively on the turbochargers; an additional compressor is not needed.

World-wide first Siebengang DSG for volume models

A further world novelty is the Siebengang DSG. Opposite the Sechsgang DSG the clutches of the new transmission do not run in an oil bath. Advantage: an again better efficiency. Already with the Sechsgang DSG Volkswagen within the mechanism range obtains sensationally low values consumed. Owing to this efficiency and the sporty switching characteristic the DSG in the compact and middle class released a true DSG boom. Example Touran: Here the DSG portion today already is with 25 per cent. The new Siebengang DSG extends the offer of Volkswagen by a further attractive variant. It is intended for a vehicle spectrum from the Polo to the trade wind. The transferable maximum torque amounts to up to 250 Newtonmeters.

In the combination of both new aggregates outstanding values consumed in connection with comfort and driving fun result: In the gulf consumption lies with only 5.9 l/100 km. Both new propulsion technologies – Siebengang DSG and 90 KW TSI – show once more that Volkswagen makes innovativste technologies for all drivers attainable.
