The upcoming Need for Speed game looks to be an honest to god reboot of the series’ glory days of NFS: Underground, and I have never been more excited. The original reveal that included cameos from industry stars like Magnus Walker and Ken Block already had me excited, but today Electronic Arts released a new trailer that covers the customization system of the new game. It is like every dream I had when I was playing on my Playstation 2 has been realized and made new again.
Basically, if you have been missing the deep and visual customization options that racers used to provide you, it has returned in force. EA and Need for Speed have partnered with some of the biggest names in the business to provide real body modifications to dozens of cars, and then created some of their own. Also, you can modify or change almost every panel on every car. Wide fenders, massive spoilers, tons of wheels, lip kits, they have the works.
Along with the body alterations, they have a vinyl and paint system that is as robust as you get in Forza, so players can create any livery their hearts desire. They also added in a huge tuning mechanic that lets players alter all sorts of things about their cars to make them better racers or better drifters, or anything in between.
If you don’t believe me, just take a look at the trailer for yourself. It’s three minutes of video game magic.
Need for Speed launches on November 3 for the Xbox One and Playstation 4. A PC version is scheduled to be released Spring 2016.
