Washington DC February 8, 2007; The AIADA newsletter reported that Yutaka Technologies Inc., subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., said yesterday that it is building a $50 million plant in Alabama to supply Honda Manufacturing of Alabama LLC.

According to Automotive news, the 168,000-square-foot plant will manufacture torque converters and exhaust-system parts for Honda's factory in Lincoln, Ala. This will be the company's third plant in North America.

Construction at the 75-acre site in Cullman, Ala. began in early January. Production is expected to begin in November. The plant will eventually employ about 200 workers.

The Lincoln plant makes the Honda Odyssey minivan and Pilot crossover and with a capacity of 300,000 vehicles a year, is planning to add more Pilot production as Honda transfers work from its Alliston, Ontario operation in Canada. That production shift will be complete by March 31, Honda spokesman David Iida said
