The BMW M6 and M5 have been undergoing plastic surgery in the operating room for quite some time now. This past week photos leaked out of the face lifted, no pun intended, of the new M6. The 2-door sports car has been behind closed doors until now, and might I add, we may be closer to production than we all thought. Speculation was that BMW would not release the newly designed M5 and M6 until mid 2013 but by the looks of these photos a 2012 may be in store. I suspect summer of 2012.
The in recently leaked pictures hides many of the lines, but you can notice a few big changes. Starting with the tail lights. The older tail lights resembled the everyday 6 series with the triangle feel to them resembling an older Honda Accord if you will. The newly designed tail lights look to feature a much more flowing rectangular shape resembling its younger brother the M3. Moving on to the front fascia. The new bumper and grill combine to give the car once again the look of the M3 well all know today.
We suspect the new M6 will receive the same 560-hp, 530 pound-feet torque 4.4L V8 engine found in the most recent M5. We are most definitely looking forward to the day BMW strips the camo off this car to reveal the true M6. Until then we wait.
