For eight years now, Ford has created a special Mustang to be auctioned off for the Experimental Aircraft Association, and this year is one of the coolest yet. Dubbed the Apollo Edition, this special Mustang is named and designed after the classic Apollo Missions that sent man to the Moon.

Visually this ‘Stang has a cool two-tone paint job that is white with a black hood, roof and spoiler, and there is a driver’s side stripe that is done in white with red trim and United States lettering. Just like you would find on the side of the rockets read to blast our astronauts to space. The wheels follow the same color scheme with a white lip, black spokes, and bright red Brembo calipers peaking from behind. All the aero work on the car is also black, and the mirrors are red. Speaking of aero work, there is a lot of it. This Mustang has deep side skirts, a new rear diffuser, and a huge front splitter, all topped off with that big wing out back. The final touch of visual flair for this exterior is a set of undercarriage lights that glow a bright orange like the fire around the space capsule as it re-enters the atmosphere after a successful mission.

Under that slick new hood, Ford has upgraded the engine with a Ford Performance supercharger, shift kit and full exhaust. Total power output has been bumped from the standard car’s 430 horsepower up to 627 angry ponies and 540 pounds of twist. Good thing it has those big Brembo brakes to help it stop. This thing can surely build speed.

If you want to own this cool combination of NASA nostalgia and modern muscle car madness, the auction takes place July 23rd. Be there to try and take it home. If you are just here to ogle, please feel free to check out our full gallery below.
