Cadillac has unleashed its newest model unto the world. This is the 2017 Cadillac XT5 and it is the first crossover to use the company’s new naming scheme. Think of it as a slightly larger and more luxurious replacement for the outdated SRX. From a pure design standpoint, the new XT5 is leagues ahead of its predecessor, and it paints a bright future for Cadillac’s crossovers going forward.
The interior is the biggest source of improvement with the XT5 making use of the designs and materials introduced in the new CT6 sedan. There is plenty of wood and leather as well as a healthy dose of advanced technology.
Under the hood you will find the new version of GM’s 3.6-liter V6. With 310 horsepower and 270 pounds of torque on tap, the XT5 should feel sprightly when you get to that highway merge. Cadillac’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine will also be available, and all models come equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission. A new twin-clutch AWD system will also be offered.
Production starts this spring, and it should be on sale soon after that.
