As the full-on 2013 model year approaches, various manufactures are beginning to release their next year details. Owned and operated by Mercedes-Benz, the pricing details for the upcoming Maybach models were recently revealed. Instead of a triple digit number however, the word “discontinued” filled in the spot for the 2013 62 and 57. It is official: the Maybach name will no longer live on.
Last year, the rumormill went haywire after Mercedes-Benz revealed that since its rebirth in 2002, the Maybach name failed to turn a profit. At that point, it was simply just a matter of time when the brand would be discontinued. Currently, the big 57 and even larger 62 models are still for sale and carry with them the largest rebate in recent history. Perhaps anxious to unload the rolling living rooms, Mercedes-Benz and taken up to $100,000 off the MSRP of some models. If there ever was a time to buy a piece of automotive history, it appears to be now.
