Many people want to get the first Ford GT supercar when it goes on sale next year, Alisa Priddle of Detroit Free Press reported.
Dave Pericak, director of the new Ford Performance global division, said that “we’re getting inquiries from everywhere, including celebrities like Jay Leno.” Also, Justin Verlander is interested in getting this car.
The automaker has yet to decide about who gets the first GT that will be sold in limited volumes in the second half of 2016.
Details about the number of cars to be built, and price were not disclosed by Ford. It is expected the price will be between $300,000 to $400,000.
The car will be built in Canada by Multimatic, located in Markham, Ontario. It will be the two-door, mid-engine car.
In January, Ford unveiled the GT at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It marks the return of the rear-drive mid-engine super car which was last sold in the 2006 model year.
The automaker has tweaked its 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine to generate more than 600 horsepower for the GT. The engine will also go into the Raptor.
