The 2011 model year marks the end of an era as one of the last, ‘true’ sports car builders, Lotus, is ending production of its famed Elise/Exige. In order to tip a proper hat to the organic track-rat, Lotus will sell three special edition models exclusive to its last model year. The limited edition specials are specific to the North American market and are able to be purchased now.
First up is the 2011 Elise SC Final Edition. Available with a matte-black top and exterior trim, the final edition uses the 218 horsepower variant of Toyota’s 1.8 liter supercharged four cylinder. A limited slip differential, sport suspension and touring interior trim round out the insanely limited Elise SC Final Edition. Only 15 $58,625 units will be sold.
Covered in paint suitable for Darth Vader is the 2011 Exige Matte Black Final Edition. Every exterior trim piece is coated in the ‘back-yard’ paint job, including the Exige’s downforce enhancing front splitter and rear wing. The 257 horsepower 1.8 liter supercharged Toyota four cylinder powers this $71,025 special edition. Only 25 will be sold.
Using the track-special Exige S260 as a base is the 2011 S260 Final Edition. 30 of these will be made with an MSRP of $68,625. Along side the 257 horsepower 1.8 liter is the Exige’s sport package and the touring package. This gives it a limited slip differential and a much up-scale (for an Exige) interior.
Once the Elise and Exige get phased out, the Evora will be the only Lotus on sale for the time being. According to Car and Driver magazine, these are the last of one of the most iconic sports cars of our generation.
