Lexus is trying to tease the automotive universe this week. It has announced that they are bringing two refreshed models to the lawn of the Pebble Beach. They say these are new cars that the public has never seen before, but with a little bit of reasoning, we can guess what they are bringing. The most likely first culprit is the new LX 570. The current LX SUV arrived in 2007, and was updated in 2012, making it one of the oldest cars in the Lexus lineup. On top of its age, sales have been slowing dramatically, and there have been mules of a refreshed model running around. If this is not one of the new cars Lexus is debuting, I will eat my hat.
The second car that should find itself under a silk sheet at Pebble is a new LS. The current LS is a fantastic luxury machine, but the current-generation car bowed in 2006 making it a decade old now. With new versions of the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes S-Class, Lexus can’t afford to lets its flagship sedan sit untouched. Plus Lexus has a history tying Pebble Beach to the LS nameplate. In 2009, Lexus even created a special Pebble Beach edition of the LS 600h.
