Few things are more Italian than pasta and topless supercars. To keep that tradition going, Lamborghini has taken the saw to its brutal Aventador. The result is a stunning two-seater that looks even faster and more aggressive than the coupe its based on.
The car is powered by the same 6.5-liter V12 as the coupe, replete with the same 700 horsepower. Lambo claims that 60 mph will blow by in 3-seconds dead and that top speed is a staggering 217 mph. Make sure all loose items are properly secured, and make sure you enjoy the sound of all 12-cylinders singing.
Now before we get too excited, let us point to some issues with the top. Many people thought the Germans had beaten some sense into Lamborghini with the power operated top in the Gallardo models, it appears that the lessons didn’t stick. Like all V12 roadster before it, the Aventador has a hand removable top that needs to be packed away in the boot. Fortunately, this top is a two-piece carbon fiber unit, and not a broken tent that an army of Boy Scouts couldn’t assemble.
Lamborghini makes sure to point out that much time was spent to preserve the sleek look of the original car, while still providing the open top feel that owners expect. We think the results speak for themselves, especially with the new Azzuro Thetis blue paint. Take a few moments to look at the high-resolution gallery below and make sure to pay special attention to the rear 3/4 views.
The new car is currently priced at 300,00 euros (US pricing should be along shortly) and will be available next year.
