Kia Motors America’s all-new Rio subcompact will soon be highly accessible. With a recently announced base MSRP of $13,400, the Sedan manages undercut a good amount of its competition. Included in that price are standard features such as CD/MP3 stereo, SiriusXM satellite radio with aux ports, hill start assist and vehicle stability management. It also get’s the Hyundai derived 138 horsepower Gasoline Direct Injected (GDI) 1.6 liter inline four cylinder and both the Accent’s six speed manual and automatic. The start MSRP gets three pedals while the automatic starts at $14,500. The Rio keeps its Hyundai brother’s 40 mpg claim, but adds an automatic start/stop feature.
The most expensive 2012 Rio Sedan will cost $17,500. Included in that SX trim level are LED head and tail lamps, upgraded interior gauges, leather wrapping, and a voice activated infotainment system powered by Microsoft’s UVO. A rear back up camera is also offered on the SX, which is right above the mid EX and base LX trims. The only way to get the six speed manual paired to the Rio is to opt for the LX model. Expect to see the 2012 Kia Rio on showroom floors later in the fall.
