Oh be still my beating heart. The crazy kids at Motor Trend are reporting that Jaguar is in the middle of building a new F-Type SVR that will pack more than 600 horsepower from a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine. Currently, the most powerful car that Jaguar builds in any real capacity is the 550 horsepower F-Type R Coupe. The report doesn’t say if the new SVR with coupe, roadster or both, but whichever body style it arrives in, it will be fast. Expect a zero to 60 sprint in the range of 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of well over 175 should be achievable.
If I had to bet money, I would assume that this new SVR model F-Type would ditch RWD in favor of AWD exclusively. With that much power, traction becomes the biggest hurdle for making the car easily drivable.
This is all still just speculation at this point, but rest assured that we we’ll be keeping our ears to ground for any more information regarding this story.
