The next vehicle to be added to Hyundai’s 4×40 mpg campaign, the upcoming 2012 Veloster, has officially been priced. With a standard 40 mpg on the highway, the three-door Hyundai coupe was built to be fun, playful, useful and efficient. Initial Velosters will feature front wheel drive and compete with the likes of Volkswagen’s Beetle, Mini Coopers and the Scion tc.
Starting MSRP for a base Veloster with the six speed manual transmission is $17,300. Standard features include Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics system featuring voice text messaging, seven inch touch screen media display, Pandora internet radio and Bluetooth. Navigation with turn-by-turn directions is an option as well as remote starting. For $18,550, a Veloster can be fitted with Hyundai’s six speed dual clutch EcoShift automatic transmission. With this Hyundai first, the Veloster can achieve 29 mpg in the city, one more than the six speed manual model. At first, all trim levels use the same 1.6 liter Gasoline Direct Injected (GDI) inline four cylinder that makes 138 horsepower found in the 2012 Accent.
Additional options include the $2,000 Style Package that includes 18 inch wheels, chrome grill and foglights, leather wrapped interior and a Dimension sourced premium stereo. The $2,000 Tech Package adds backup camera, navigation, remote start and 115-volt auxiliary outlet. Sales of the 2012 Hyundai Veloster will begin in September of this year.
