For the past two decades, Hyundai Motor America has held its base of operations in Fountain Valley, California. But as the demolition of their former home along the 405 San Diego Freeway continues, the company is planning ahead for their new office. Expected to begin during the spring 2012, the new Fountain Valley facility be the child of a more than $150 million investment. The six-story tall, 419,000 square foot building will be the largest funded office in Hyundai’s U.S. history.
“This new national headquarters represents Hyundai’s vision for the future and reflects the innovation and creativity that our brand has come to represent,” said Hyundai Motor America CEO John Krafcik. “It also reflects our commitment to invest in and benefit the communities in which we operate around the world.” Gensler, a world-renowned architecture and design firm, is instrumental in the building’s design. A two-story high entrance, open-sky court-yard and visible showroom floor will compliment the structural pedestal foundation. Keeping to tune with Hyundai’s green-friendly operations, the new headquarters will be certified by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) organization. Approximately 1,530 jobs will be directly or indirectly created and completion is slated for fall 2013.
