Honda North America said it will invest about $215 million in Ohio, reports The Detroit News.
The automaker plans to add new powertrain technologies and a training center at an engine plant in Anna. The company also is building a new heritage center in Marysville to showcase the Japanese automaker’s history in Ohio and North America.
Honda plans to spend about $180 million over the next year to 18 months at its Anna Engine Plant “to increase aluminum die casting and parts production associated with its new Honda Earth Dreams Technology engines and transmissions,” according to the news report.
In addition, Honda has started to build a new $35 million, 160,000-square-foot building near existing facilities in Marysville. The building will house a new training facility and heritage center and office space for Honda.
The building is scheduled to open in fall 2014.
According to the company, the heritage center will be open to the public and highlight the company’s 36-year history in Ohio and its milestones in North America.
